SEBI Grade A Result 2026 Out: Download Phase 1 Merit List PDF & Score Card Details

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has officially released the SEBI Grade A Result 2026 for the Phase 1 Online Examination. This marks a significant milestone for thousands of aspirants aiming for the prestigious Assistant Manager post in India's capital markets regulator.

The Phase 1 examination, which is the screening stage, was conducted recently across various centers in India. Candidates who appeared for the General, Legal, Information Technology (IT), Research, Official Language, and Engineering streams can now check their qualifying status.

Unlike banking exams where you see a status immediately upon login, SEBI releases a PDF list of Roll Numbers of candidates shortlisted for Phase 2. If your roll number is in the PDF, you have cleared the hurdle!

In this detailed guide, we provide the direct link to download the SEBI Grade A Merit List PDF, instructions on how to check your result, and a roadmap for the upcoming Phase 2 examination.

The result has been published on the official website sebi.gov.in. Candidates do not need a password to access the list; it is open for public viewing.

Result Format: The result is available as a PDF containing the Roll Numbers of shortlisted candidates. SEBI usually releases separate PDFs for different streams.

How to Check SEBI Grade A Phase 1 Result?

Follow these simple steps to verify your selection:

  1. Visit Official Website: Go to the official SEBI website: www.sebi.gov.in.
  2. Careers Section: Scroll down to the bottom of the homepage and click on "Careers".
  3. Find the Result: Look for the text titled "SEBI Recruitment Exercise for Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) 2026 - Results of Phase I Online Exam".
  4. Select Stream: Click on the PDF link relevant to your stream (e.g., General Stream, Legal Stream).
  5. Search Roll Number: Open the PDF and use Ctrl + F (or the search icon on mobile) to enter your Roll Number.
  6. Match Found: If your roll number is highlighted, Congratulations! You have qualified for Phase 2.

Important: SEBI releases separate Result PDFs for each stream (General, Legal, IT, Research, etc.). Please ensure you click on the link corresponding specifically to your applied stream. If you applied for the IT or Legal stream, your Roll Number will NOT appear in the General Stream list.

Understanding the Cut-Off Criteria

Many candidates are confused about why they didn't qualify despite scoring well in one paper. Remember the unique SEBI rule:

  • Paper 1 Cut-off: You must have scored at least 30%.
  • Paper 2 Cut-off: You must have scored at least 40%.
  • Aggregate Cut-off: You must have scored an Aggregate of 40% (Paper 1 + Paper 2) to qualify.

Note: The actual marks and the category-wise cut-off marks are usually released by SEBI only after the entire recruitment process (Phase 2 and Interview) is completed.

Guidelines for Selected Candidates

Congratulations! Clearing Phase 1 is a big achievement, as it filters out a massive chunk of the competition. However, the real battle begins now.

  1. Phase 2 is the Game Changer: Unlike Phase 1 (which was qualifying), the marks of Phase 2 (Paper 1 English + Paper 2 Stream Specific) will be counted for your final selection.
  2. Download Hall Ticket: Keep an eye on the website for the Phase 2 Call Letter.
  3. Revise Paper 2: For the General Stream, revisit Commerce, Accountancy, Costing, and Companies Act. The difficulty level will be higher than Phase 1.
  4. Practice English: Do not ignore the Descriptive English paper (Essay, Précis, Comprehension). It carries 1/3rd weightage of Phase 2.

Guidance for Not Selected Candidates

If your roll number is not in the list, it can be disheartening, but it is not the end of the road.

  • Analyze the Gap: Since the marks aren't out yet, recall your attempt. Did you miss the sectional cut-off in Paper 1 (Quant/Reasoning) or did the specific subject in Paper 2 drag you down?
  • Don't Stop: The syllabus for SEBI (Quant, Reasoning, English, GA) overlaps with other exams.
  • Upcoming Opportunities: Use this preparation for RBI Grade B, NABARD Grade A, or IFSCA exams which have similar patterns.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

SEBI typically releases the individual marks/scorecard only after the final result (after interviews) is declared. However, sometimes they release Phase 1 marks for non-shortlisted candidates earlier. Keep checking the website.

The declaration of the SEBI Grade A Phase 1 Result narrows down the competition to serious contenders. Whether you made it or not, the effort you put into understanding financial subjects is an asset.

For those moving to Phase 2, stay focused. For those who didn't, gear up for the next challenge.
