- PST/PET is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
- Physical standards for height and chest vary for different categories and regions.
- PET includes a 100m race, 1.6 km race, long jump, high jump, and shot put for male candidates, and a 100m race, 800m race, long jump, and high jump for female candidates.

Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
- Candidates who qualify in PET/ PST will be called for Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
- The medical examination will be conducted by the Medical Officer of CAPFs or any other Medical Officer or Assistant Surgeon belonging to Central/ State Government hospitals or dispensaries.
- Candidates found medically unfit will be informed about the position and they can prefer an appeal to the Review Medical Board (RMB) within the prescribed time limit. Final selection is subject to qualifying DME.
